And the very ends of the earth as Your possession" Psalm 2:8
Malili Baptist Church

Malili Baptist Church

Malili Baptist Church was started in March 2005 as an outreach of Pastor Wambua and Baptist Chapel. The church started out meeting under a tree and has grown to between 150 and 200 people. The church is pastored by Daniel Ochieng.

The village of Malili is located at the Itivanzou sub-location, Kamuwongo division of the Kyuso District. This village like the entire district falls in a climatic region classified by the Kenyan government as an Arid/Semi-Arid area. Drought and famine are common in this area, usually occurring every other year. The population of Itivanzou is over 6,000. Most people in the area farm and raise livestock to sustain their families. This year alone over 80% of the cattle in the area have died as a result of the drought. The lack of available water has contributed greatly to the impoverishment of the community. Drilling a well in this area would immediately benefit around 6,000 people who must currently search for water every day. Please click here to visit the opportunities page and learn more about the well project.

kindergardenThe church is currently allowing the Kenyan public school in Malili to use their church building to teach Kindergarden since the local school is out of space. This is a great reminder of how many buildings that are built in Kenya serve multiple purposes.

EquipKenya was recently able to help with the purchase of 15 acres of land adjacent to the well site in Malili. We hope to build an infirmary as well as a trade school on this land. Listed below are the current needs of Malili Baptist Church. Please contact us for more information on helping the Malili community.

Construction Needs

Furniture
The church needs basic furnishings for the building, including:

  • Pews/chairs $1,000.00
  • Generator and PA system $1,500.00 for both

Parsonage
Each of the 4 mission churches also has a need for a parsonage so that the Pastors can fully give themselves to communities and not have to spend so much wasted time in travel. Parsonages can be built in these rural areas for $2,000.00.
